Social Distance

I have always been a practitioner of social distancing. I did not need an infectious disease or an order from the Governor to seek out solitude. So, when the snowstorm hit, and 89 closed at Emerald Bay I took advantage of the general inaccessibility of the situation. I awoke at 4:30, explained to Scout that deep snow, avalanches, and cliffs where not his forte, then hopped into the Jeep and proceeded off into the dark. Skiing down to Emerald Bay by headlamp is actually relaxing. Strapping on snowshoes and wading through waist deep snow on the edge of a cliff by headlamp is not. As the lights came on, I started to fret that the storm clouds were too thick for the sun to cut through and light up the Bay. I began to pack up, when at last the sun punched through a hole in the sky and granted my effort with the short display you see in front of you. I shoed back to where I dumped my skis. Skinned my skis and proceeded to climb back up to the Jeep. I was gone for 4 hours, skied, shoed, took pictures, even flew my drone for a bit, and still kept my social distance.
