All to Myself

There is something about fresh snow with no tracks. Maybe it’s how pristine it can make just about any landscape, or how quiet it makes everything. I like how it keeps everyone in their house, which means for about an hour at dawn I can get Sand Harbor all to myself. I’ve been picturing this image in my head for about 5 years now, but it really isn’t an easy task to get up before dawn and make the drive from west shore to east shore in a storm. The jeep makes it an easier task these days and when I slid to a stop in the Harbor parking lot, I knew I’d have a good shot at my picture. It was totally closed out when I walked up to the beach but since I ‘d made the trip I thought I would set up anyway and hope for the best. I jumped the fence so as to not make any footprints getting to a nice spot with some boulders in the foreground. I really wanted a sharp contrast from the snow to the sand to the aquamarine water. I set up and luckily the storm started to break and for about 15 minutes the sun popped through and gave me what I think is just the right amount of warm color to compliment the cold blue tones of the snow and water.
