I like salsa. I like all kinds of salsa. I really like spicy salsa. I really, really, like homemade, fresh, spicy salsa. So, I proceeded to eat a bowl of it the night prior to this photograph. This is another photograph I have been telling myself I want to take some day as I drive by it every time I go to Tahoe. This cliff is located above the Granite Flat campground just south of Truckee CA. The perspective of the shot is everything. I wanted to line up the trees on the edge of the cliff in a minimalist row. In addition, I wanted the trees to be covered in fresh powder. These conditions don’t happen often, until this past Thanksgiving Day. It snowed all night, and I knew there was a shot of getting my wish. I loaded Scout and myself up in the Cabin Wagon early before the sun came up and headed out in blizzard conditions. Miraculously, the storm broke up just as we came in (sliding sideways mind you) to the camp ground turn off. Scout decided he was going to head into the meadow next to the camp whilst I launched my drone to see if I could get the shot. To my dismay, the drone could not get the perspective I wanted. I then decided to see where my dog was and found him in the meadow digging in snow. I came over to retrieve him and then looked up at what was my shot. I kindly thanked Scout with a treat and let him return to whatever he was so intent on to begin with. I pulled out my telephoto lens and attached some neutral density filters for the pic. Nothing difficult, if you don’t mind wiping your lens every time you the snap the shutter. Oh, the salsa! I almost forgot. What does it have to do with this story? Well, I always keep TWO lens clothes in my camera bag. I usually use one to wipe the body and one for the lens. This time (because of the salsa and LOCKED campground bathrooms in winter) I used one to wipe myself and the other for the lens. Creed, you owe me a new lens cloth.
