Christian Cows

This photograph depends upon perspective to give it the graphic quality that overcomes the bad light. I shot it from the road below the Cows looking up at them with a telephoto to make the Elders in the background large. Usually you don’t have the ability to control the light, time of day, cloud positions, etc. In fact, you never have control over it. Instead you read weather reports, wake up early, stay out late, in order to maximize your chances of them lining up. But here, I failed miserably in trying to get them to line up. So, I hiked around looking for unusual perspectives when maybe the light would be better. Perspective is the only choice you really have in all photography. You can photograph the same subject but depending upon an infinite number of variables, they can all look different and give different dimension, feeling, awe depending on the combination put together. In essence, it’s the most essential skill in photography. And just maybe, in life as well.
