This week is a bit of thanks to Australia. Firefighters from Australia were mobilized a few days ago to assist the United States with the current wildfire situation especially in California for the Carr fire which has killed six people, including two firefighters, and prompted the evacuation of 37,000 from their homes. If you have ever been to Sydney I’m sure you’ve climbed the harbor bridge and visited what is undoubtedly the most iconic form of architecture in the world. I walked out to Mrs. Macquarie's Point early one morning for a nice stroll through the gardens there. I took my telephoto lens because I wanted to photograph one of the Fox Bats there. As I was trying to focus on a bat flying, my auto focus landed on the Opera House with the Bridge in the background. I soon forgot about the bats and proceeded to change my aperture to get both the Bridge and House in sharp focus. Black and white seems to accentuate the graphic form of both structures. I hope you enjoy the view as I did 12 years ago when I took this, but please take a moment to realize that wildfire is no joke and support your local fire department.
