I sailed the other day, which is why I chose to post this picture of boats racing off the Santa Barbara coast. It reminded me of the juxtaposition between engineering and art. I used to believe that they were completely separate disciplines, one learned, and one given by parents. Today, I believe they are utterly linked. Science is the genetic code of great design nascent to higher evolution. The spectrum is determined by the capacity for consistent amelioration. Irrational demeanor is the bane of progress, yet it absurdly affords the inspiration required for progression when applied giving birth to innovation. I am not a sailor, don’t even really know how to sail, but when I saw the form, color, and perspective of the image before you, consistent practice kicked in, and innovation in my photography happened.
