Tuscany

It’s as easy to get lost in Tuscany as it is to photograph Tuscany. Just point and go. My father and I photographed this very same place some 7 years before he passed away. Whilst lost one afternoon, we came upon this view and decided to come back hoping for a beautiful sunrise. The sunrise didn’t satisfy, and we were leaving the following day. My father vowed to come back to Italy for two things; this picture, and more pistachio gelato. Sadly, he would never get the chance to do either. I came back to this place after spending two days trying to find it, and again only got one morning to photograph it. I thought the morning fog would again, disappoint me, but the sun burned enough off to give a striking color whilst providing an ethereal softness to the villa, vineyard, and olive tree. I sprinkled the foot of the olive tree with some of my father’s ashes giving me a feeling that in some way, I fulfilled his wish. Mark Twain was right…,” The Creator made Italy from designs by Michaelangelo.”
