USS Pt. Reyes

No longer there, well at least in this capacity. The Point Reyes was a really just a fixer upper project that never got started by the local land owner. It eventually was dragged here behind a grocery store in Inverness California off Tomales Bay to be put to the elements. You can park in the parking lot of the store and walk 2 min to take a look at the old vessel yourself. I had been wanting to take a picture of this boat for no other reason than I love the Pt. Reyes area and the boat had the name so I thought a pic of it hanging in my office would remind me of one of my favorite places in California. I showed up at dusk and got a great bit of puffy clouds to come in just as the sun was going down off the point. The contrast in color came off great. Sadly, a photographer wanted to take a night picture of the vessel with large pyrotechnic sparklers going off on it. The fireworks started the wreck on fire, and most of the stern is now gone…I wouldve preferred to see the elements take it over time.
